my first ever styled shoot
I had the opportunity to do my first styled shoot at Talmo Farms last year. Previous to the styled shoot, I had attended a gorgeous wedding there a few years prior to starting my photography business. The outside of the barn is black and the inside is a raw wood vibe that provides the perfect backdrop for any theme or vibe you might be going for when planning your wedding. There are several beautiful locations on the property where you can have your ceremony. They even have a backup weather option that features a covered patio, while still allowing for a stunning view of the fields surrounding the barn!

why I planned my own styled shoot (and how it paid off!)
Planning a wedding styled shoot was a necessity when I decided to begin offering weddings. I had a few second shooting gigs lined up, but this styled shoot was my opportunity to put together a gallery that would (hopefully) attract my ideal clients (I actually ended up booking three weddings last fall after posting this styled shoot on my Instagram)! Every vendor I worked with (listed above) were so amazing and I highly recommend each and every one of them. We had the best time working together on this project and I love the way that everything turned out!

a few tips for planning your own styled shoot
Make a Pinterest Board! I had so much fun going onto Pinterest and putting together a board for the styled shoot. Not only did make me feel so inspired and excited, it also came in handy when looking for vendors! I could show them the board, so they knew the overall concept/vibe for the shoot!
Find a Wedding Coordinator! Working with a wedding coordinator on your styled shoot with help you stay organized while executing your vision. Plus, they often have tons of connections and great ideas (maybe even things you haven’t thought to consider yet while planning your shoot)! They also help you make a day of schedule and can act as a personal assistant on the day of the event!
Be creative! This is your chance to basically plan a mini wedding! Don’t be afraid to incorporate your own personal style into the event. This way, when you are sharing your work, you will be more likely to attract your ideal clients! Plus, it makes the whole process more fun and inspiring!
